See Captivating Cape Town by Land & Air

Soar above the city by helicopter & indulge yourself with wine, chocolate & nougat tastings on a tour of celebrated Cape Winelands estates on this adults-only Platinum DreamTrip — plus, stay at an elegant hotel a short walk from top attractions.

About Your Trip

Escape to the captivating port city of Cape Town on this Platinum DreamTrip for guests ages 18 years and older and discover tasty delights as you tour one of the country’s premier wine-producing regions. You’ll spend a full day traversing the Cape Winelands, a countryside boasting majestic mountain ranges, scenic passes, historic wine estates and distinctive Cape Dutch homesteads. At Stellenbosch, the heart of the winelands, admire classic colonial-era architecture in this university town. Continue to 3 estates and tempt your taste buds with wine, chocolate and nougat. Their doors are open and ready for you to walk in and start enjoying the bounty of their fields. You’ll notice right away that they take their profession very seriously and consider wine as not only a drink but a way of life — these winemakers study it, live it, think it, feel it and breathe it with a passion that’s second to none!

And if that’s not enough, the following morning, you’ll take to the skies during a thrilling helicopter ride over Cape Town and its coastline. From high above, you’ll get the best bird’s-eye view of charming towns and picturesque bays below — an amazing view that’s sure to impress.

In your free time, it’s easy to make your own fun — especially since your luxurious lodgings are just steps from some of Cape Town’s most notable attractions, including Heritage Square and St. George’s Cathedral. About a half-hour away on foot is the popular Victoria & Albert Waterfront (commonly called V&A Waterfront). This oceanside complex sees more than 20 million visitors a year and has everything you’d want — restaurants, retail outlets, museums, a farmer’s market, an aquarium, and historical landmarks such as the 1882 Clock Tower and SAS Somerset vessel. Those looking for something different can try one of our suggested activities listed below.

What we love:
• If you’re a wine lover, a cellar door experience is the way to go. The small and intimate setting offers a chance for staff — and oftentimes the winemakers themselves — to offer visitors their knowledge along with samples of wine.
• Of the 18 official wine routes in South Africa, Route 62, the longest wine route in the world, is the most popular. Known as the Cape Route, it travels 528 miles (850 kilometers), through quaint towns, over rolling hills and past wineries.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

This trip will close by January 20.

Destination

Cape Town is one of the most scenic and culturally diverse cities in South Africa. From the plateau crest of Table Mountain — the stirring backdrop to the Cape Town skyline — to the bustling harbor along the Cape Peninsula’s Atlantic seashore, this capital of the Western Cape Province has it all.

The food scene is vibrant and thriving, one that reflects Cape Town’s multicultural make up. Influences range from Dutch, Indian and Cape Malay to Italian, Japanese and Moroccan. The city’s oceanside location is perfect for seafood-inspired cuisine, especially pickled fish, prawns and mussels. The area is also home to world-class wine producers, some with vineyard grapes dating back to the 1600s. Wine routes such as Stellenbosch and Franschhoek offer tourists an easy way to explore the history of the South African Winelands.
